My trek through intuitive eating has been quite rewarding. I lost six pounds one week, four the next. Then last week life stuff happened and my focus got pulled and I tanked... sigh :-(
I have 13 weeks left in my original challenge. I'm trying to lose half of my weight total by mid July and honestly, the pressure is starting to mount.
Thing is, stress is one of the greatest deterrents to weight loss, so I am dangerously nearing a catch 22-slash- vicious circle thing.
Weight loss truly should be far simpler than this. lol
Anyway, I'm taking a bit of a break this week, gathering strength and when I get back on track on Saturday, I'm trying a new program called the Daily Burn. Which is an online nutrition program and tracker along with work out routines, everything from yoga to core workouts to dance work outs to something called inferno.
Certain people may call my need to constantly switch up my routine as flighty, it's more that I work with something for as long as it works and I'm smart enough to keep switching it up so I don't burn out. Losing weight is a pain in the ass, it gets worse after forty, I'm telling you! Someone said it's even worse after 50 so there is no way in hell I'll take this body into that decade! I intend to get my body in the best shape of its life, not necessarily with the goal of keeping up this level of intensity, but more to give myself an advantage as I head for those golden years of fifty. If I start strong, I'm more likely to stay strong. It's as simple as that.
For now, I'm just coasting, gathering strength because my next six weeks are going to be a more intense focused approach. I won't commit for longer than that, because I know I'll need to switch it up some by then, but the great thing about the daily burn is that they have so many work out routines available, I don't think I'll ever get board exactly.
What is different about this approach for me is that it's more serious. It's not for those of us who want to sit back, watch the pounds fall off while we eat pizza. Which you can technically do on some of the programs out there, it's one of the nice things about weight watchers for instance, but I need a mental switch. I need it to be hard so it will force me to attack it.
My attitude on weight for much of the past year has been oh it'll come off when it comes off. I need to stir the pot and get in there. I'm down nearly 30 pounds for the year, but I have a bit more than that to still lose by July. This is serious. I need to be serious.
So while I equally dread and look forward to the daily burn, I most of all am working on keeping my mind focused and my attitude positive and my determination strong.
Lets finish this thing! )
